September 17, 1999 -- Unitil (AMEX:UTL) has completed restoration of power to all its customers affected by the Hurricane Floyd.
The Unitil companies Concord Electric Company, Exeter & Hampton Electric Company and Fitchburg Gas & Electric Light Company, had a total of 5,734 outages during the evening storm. During the peak of the storm, 4,600 Exeter & Hampton, 170 Concord Electric, and 964 Fitchburg Gas & Electric customers were without power.
Contract crews were released and sent to assist the restoration effort in the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative service territory.
Unitil reminds customers who experience an outage to be sure to call the company to report the problem. However, calling more than once may tie up phone lines and prevent others from reporting new outages.
