Hampton, NH - November 7, 2002 - Unitil Corporation (AMEX:UTL) announced today that its 2001 Annual Report to Shareholders has received seven awards in three nation-wide annual report competitions. This is the fifth consecutive year Unitil has received national recognition for its Annual Report.

The awards for Unitil's 2001 Annual Report include:

• The League of American Communications Professionals -- Bronze Award winner for "Best Overall Publication" in its category.
• The American Society of Professional Communicators -- Colonial Award for Excellence winner in two categories: "Front Cover" and "Financial Reporting."
• American Business Communicators -- First Place for "Photography/Illustration"; Third Place for "Cover Design"; Third Place for "Financial Presentation"; and the Outstanding Achievement Award for "Overall Publication."
